Water companies warn Ofwat of above-inflation price rises for investment

After rises in fuel and energy prices it is the turn of the water companies, which have put in demands for above inflation price rises from 2010.

The companies have told regulator Ofwat that they need the extra money for investment in pipes and sewage treatment works.

The watchdog will decide in November whether to grant the increases.
