Water companies planning above inflation price rises in England and Wales

Updated on 11 August 2008

By Tom Clarke

Some water companies in England and Wales are planning above-inflation rises from 2010.

The biggest firm, Thames Water, expects bills to rise by about three per cent above inflation every year between 2010 and 2015, while Welsh Water plans to keep any increase at the same level as inflation.

The water companies have submitted their spending and pricing plans to the regulator Ofwat for approval.
