Northern Rock directors 'reckless'

Snowmail: The Treasury Select Committee has produced a forthright report on the Northern Rock debacle.
They say the Bank's directors were the authors of its difficulties because of their "reckless" business plan. But they also say the Financial Services Authority "systematically failed" and there was a "significant failure" of the whole Treasury/Bank/FSA axis. We'll run the rule over their criticisms and their recommendations. Rogue Trader ================ The French Police have caught up with Jerome Kerviel - the man who allegedly nearly broke Societe Generale. He still hasn't been seen publicly and we don't know whether or not he handed himself in. Neither do we know if he was working alone; but that could be about to change. Inside Lashkar Gar ============== We have a special report from Alex Thomson in Lashkar Gar where British troops are increasingly patrolling alongside Afghan troops as the struggle to reconstruct Afghanistan's infrastructure goes on. Free downloads anyone? ============= And when you've finished reading this perhaps you're thinking of downloading some 'tunes', as my cool flatmate used to say. Well hang on a moment. A new website is launching where you can - legally - get them free. Ben Cohen will be reporting on where the catch may lie. All that and Keme is here with the sport. Have they or Havant they? Find out at 6.30. Carl Dinnen
