Northern Rock boss quits

Northern Rock chief executive Adam Applegarth and four board members have resigned.
None of them will go until the end of January, but Channel 4 News understands their departure was a condition of most if not all of the potential bidders interested in taking over the troubled bank, which now owes the treasury more than £20 billion.
