Museum workers to strike over pay
Updated on 09 June 2008
Museum workers are going on strike in a row over pay, complaining that their wage rise was over a year late.
More than 200 staff at the Museum of London and the Museum of London Archaeology Services will walkout in protest at a 2% pay offer.
Dave Allen, an official at Prospect, which has called the strike, said: "Our members' dedication to conveying the importance of London's history and archaeology does not mean they will put up with antediluvian pay."
The union accused the Government of "tying the hands" of the museum over pay because of its policy of keeping public sector awards to around 2%.
Prospect also announced it is to ballot 600 workers at the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency over pay and the threat of privatisation.
