M&S results worst in 2 years
Updated on 09 January 2008
Despite a celebrity backed advertising campaign, one of the UK's biggest retailers Marks & Spencer has posted its worst quarterly sales in more than two years.
Shares in the retailer plummeted almost a fifth after the update this morning, wiping more than one and a half billion pounds of the company's value.
The figures provide the strongest evidence yet that the high street is facing tough times ahead.
