Mini misadventure as 850 jobs go

Angry scenes as workers finishing the weekend shift at the Mini factory are told the plant will close for a week before re-opening on a reduced basis.

Eight hundred and fifty jobs are to go, one in three shifts will be scrapped and weekend working suspended.

BMW's Mini plant at Cowley in Oxfordshire has become the latest to be hit by fall in demand for new cars.
