Life and debt

Updated on 07 January 2008

By Channel 4 News

It's a matter of life and debt, that's the message the Church of England is hoping to get across to worshippers across the country.

It's published advice on how to cope with personal debt problems, including a PowerPoint presentation for members of the clergy to use when preaching, and prayers for those worried about their personal finances.

The advice includes advice like if you are only able to pay the minimum amount on your credit cards this month, if you can't face adding up your total debt because it scares you, or if you used to have savings which have gradually disappeared, then it's time to take debt advice.

The church have also published a special set of prayers, looking to quotes from the Bible for people who are worried about debt.
