HIPS rules tighten despite market

Critics say that with the housing market in crisis it is the wrong time to change the way Home Information Packs work.

From next week anyone selling their house in England or Wales must have a HIP in place before they put their home on the market.

And there'll be a new questionnaire for sellers to return with the other legal and descriptive documents about their property.
