Grangemouth shutdown to cost

Updated on 25 April 2008

By Tom Clarke

Shutdown at Grangemouth to cost the economy dearly, with oil currently fetching around $110 dollars a barrel.

The refinery is involved in processing around 700,000 barrels a day, using oil taken from around 65 oilfields in the North Sea.

If Grangemouth closes, there's nowhere else for that oil to go, forcing production to shut down too.
