Fire at Weston-super-Mare pier leaves structure destroyed

A fire at the grand pier in Weston-super-Mare rapidly destroys the whole structure, leaving just a smouldering shell.
Six fire engines and 30 fire fighters fought the blaze which broke out at about seven this morning.
There are no reports of injuries and the emergency services say they're still assessing whether the structure could collapse.
The quarter-of-a-mile-long pier was only reopened in April after a costly revamp by its new owners.
