British workers at Vauxhall are anxiously waiting to hear about their futures as union leaders have said a German based trust will run General Motors European arm - with no British involvement.

It is understood the trust will separate the business from the rest of the US car-making giant which now looks set to file for bankruptcy.

The unions are demanding to know whether the British government has been doing enough to safeguard jobs here.
