In a long-awaited report, the Competition Commission concludes that joint ownership "may not be serving well the interests of either airlines or passengers".

Though the commission stopped short of ordering the immediate break-up of the BAA empire, it said it would be issuing another report in August with a list of possible "remedies", before delivering its final report at the end of the year.
