With Grangemouth refinery in the process of shutting down, unions and bosses are at ACAS to try to avert the stoppage.

Meanwhile petrol firms stood accused of profiteering today after raising prices by up to 5p a litre in the last 48 hours. One garage in Scotland briefly put petrol up to £1.45.

Price hikes for consumers come as a result of crude oil hitting a high yesterday of $120 dollars a barrel.

There are also fears of fuel shortages in Scotland and the North of England ahead of the planned strike at Grangemouth.
