17 per cent Npower gas price hike

Updated on 04 January 2008

By Sue Turton

The utility company announces a 17 per hike in gas prices and a 13 per cent rise in electricity costs.

As if it wasn't a grim enough start to the new year - trouble on the railways, the cold snap and the continuing credit crunch - Npower today made it even worse by unveiling plans for a massive increase in fuel costs.

From tomorrow the company's four million customers will face rises of more than 17 per cent in gas prices and almost 13 per cent for electricity.
