X-Files premieres in Hollywood

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have stepped out for the world premiere of their latest X-Files film.

It's the first time the pair have reunited for a film based on the TV series since the 1998 big screen version.

The stars said returning to their roles as Mulder and Scully, was comfortable.

"It was hugely fun," explained Anderson, who is expecting. "I think we were all very interested in coming back to do this all together again.

"It was also with a different perspective because we all wanted to be there. There were times over the years that we were exhausted by the series and perhaps would have preferred to be somewhere else.

"But, in this case we all signed up for it and we are all extremely excited about it."

The X-Files: I Want To Believe opens in the UK on August 1.
