Updated on 24 April 2008
Video console giant Nintendo is trying to get gamers off the sofa with its latest product Wii Fit.
The "virtual gym" plugs into the television and lets players perform a range of exercises from downhill skiing to yoga using on-screen games.
The device comes with a balance board to calculate body mass index and gauge fitness.
The Japanese group is said to be trying to target young women - who play fewer video games than men - with the release.
Some retailers have already posted online warnings that stocks are expected to run out fast.
Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding was among a host of stars who helped launch Wii Fit at a launch event in London.
