Scorsese puts on Red Shoes in Cannes
Updated on 17 May 2009
Martin Scorsese and his editor Thelma Schoonmaker have gone to Cannes this year with a project close to their hearts - the restoration of British classic, The Red Shoes. Stephanie West reports.

Aside from his own films, Scorsese's passion is restoring the classics that inspired him.
He and his trusted editor Thelma Schoonmaker - who has worked with Scorsese on films from Raging Bull to The Departed - are in Cannes for the premiere of their restored version of 1948 classic, The Red Shoes.
As well as her career with Scorsese, Schoonmaker is also the widow of one half of the original creator of The Red Shoes, Michael Powell, who worked with Emeric Pressburger on the original cut.
