Ross to present Baftas
Updated on 14 January 2009
Jonathan Ross is to present the Baftas next month, just two weeks after his BBC suspension ends.
The TV host was off air for three months after he and Russell Brand made lewd phone calls to Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs.
Ross used his page on the social networking website Twitter to invite public suggestions for an unlikely word he could incorporate into his Bafta routine.
He wrote later: "Thanks for Bafta suggestions. Will whittle them down to a top three then slip one in."
The full list of Bafta nominations will be announced by British actresses Gemma Arterton and Hayley Atwell on Thursday.
Ross's chat show will be back on screens next week and the BBC has confirmed that Tom Cruise is going to be one of the first guests.
There was speculation the Hollywood star had turned down an invitation to take part because of the presenter's part in the phone row.
But Cruise will join previously-confirmed guests Stephen Fry and Lee Evans when Friday Night With Jonathan Ross returns.
