DiDonato proves 'the show must go on'
Updated on 11 July 2009
Opera singer Joyce DiDonato, is set to continue on stage at London's Royal Opera House next week, despite fracturing her leg in an accident last week.
The self-styled Yankee Diva slipped after her solo in Act One of the Barber of Seville, breaking her calf bone.
But she insisted on carrying on, helped by a crutch for the rest of the show.
Miss DiDonato, who sings the lead female role of Rosina in the Rossini opera, is due to return to the stage next week in a plaster cast and wheelchair.
For the first time on television, Joyce DiDonato has been speaking to Emily Reuben.
