Words and music by Richey and the Manics

Updated on 12 May 2009

By Stephanie West

The Manic Street Preachers release a new album with lyrics from Richey Edwards, the band’s frontman who disappeared 14 years ago.

Richey Edwards

Before he disappeared 14 years ago, the musician Richey Edwards from the Manic Street Preachers handed a file of lyrics to his best friend and fellow bandmate Nicky Wire.

All these years later, the Welsh rock band have finally recorded the songs left by their missing bandmate, and will release them next week as a new album, Journal For Plague Lovers.

A documentary about his life is also to be shown on Channel 4 this weekend.
