Pharrell Williams: 'Sad day for music'
Updated on 27 June 2009
Darshna Soni catches up with one of the world's greatest R&B producers, Pharrell Williams, who describes getting songs rejected by Jackson's manager.
Williams, who had just finished performing with his band N.E.R.D. in front of a 200,000 audience at Glastonbury, paid tribute to Michael Jackson.
He revealed that some of the songs he made were offered to Michael Jackson first. But Jackson's manager said the songs were not good enough so they were given to Justin Timberlake instead.
"Every time I'd ever seen him, [Michael Jackson] would always bring that up," he said. "He would laugh so hard that he would fall out on the couch like a kid. It was the most amazing thing you've ever seen in your life."
"It's a sad day for music to lose that talent."
