Michael Jackson, dubbed 'the king of pop', and one of the biggest selling artists in the history of popular music, dies, aged 50.

A child star by the age of nine, in terms of commercial success and awards, Michael Jackson was the most successful entertainer ever.

His solo album Thriller - released 25 years ago - is the biggest selling album ever.

Sir Paul McCartney said his music will be remembered forever and described him as "a massively talented boy man with a gentle soul".
