Fans bid for performing Monkeys

Updated on 24 November 2008

By Joanna Simpson

Music fans can now bid online for bands like the Blow Monkeys to give private concerts. Joanna Simpson reports.

In these tough economic times, many of us have had to go without luxuries such as music concerts.

But now the private gig which was previously the reserve of the rich and famous is within the reach of ordinary fans.

A website allows people to get together and combine their bids in the hope of seeing their favourite artists perform a special show.

This weekend the first private concert took place in south London in front of a hundred ecstatic fans.
