Elvis: 30 posthumous years

By Nicholas Glass

Updated on 16 August 2007

It's 30 years since Elvis Presley died in 1977.

Thousands of fans have marched through the gates of Graceland to mark the 30th anniversary of his death.

An estimated 75-thousand visitors have made the pilgrimage to the star's Mephis home, celebrating the life of the king of rock and roll.

But while Elvis may have left the building 30 years ago, that hasn't stopped him generating big bucks from beyond the grave. He's still the highest paid dead celebrity.

Last year Graceland took in fourteen million pounds in revenue. The overall Elvis businesses brings in more than £22m a year and the total tourist dollar impact in Memphis amounts to £63m annually.
