BMR chief executive Feargal Sharkey talks to Krishnan Guru-Murthy about ways to make money from music copying.
We know that a lot of illegal music copying goes on. But would people be prepared to pay for it if a legal download service was available? New research from the musician's group British Music Rights suggests that 74 per cent of people would.
63 per cent of survey respondents admitted to downloading music illegally, copying an average of 53 songs per month. 42 per cent admitted to uploading music onto file sharing network.
Feargal Sharkey, formerly lead singer of the Undertones, is now chief executive of BMR, which is calling on the recording industry to look for new ways to make money from music copying. He joined Channel 4 News in the studio.
