In 1963 he was known as the quiet Beatle. But the sound George Harrison's guitar made that summer helped make the band the biggest act in the world.

The Maton MS 500 Mastersound, used by Harrison around the time of the Beatles' debut album, Please Please Me, is expected to fetch more than £100,000 when it is auctioned next week.
