10 Elvis facts you need to know

To mark the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, Channel 4 News online presents 10 winning facts about the King.

1. Until his late teens, Elvis was blond.

2. His hobbies included collecting guns: he amassed 40 weapons before his death.

3. He memorised every line from the George C. Scott film, Patton.

4. More than 50,000 people make a living as Elvis impersonators.

5. He was named a 'Special Federal Narcotics Agent' by Richard Nixon.

6. He was a black belt in karate.

7. He recorded more than 600 songs but he did not write a single one of them.

8. He had a still born twin brother, Jesse Garon Presley.

9. He adopted a chimpanzee called Scatter. The monkey had a penchant for looking up women's skirts,

10. There is one animal - the Preseucoila Imallshookupis - named after Elvis. This is the scientific name for the gall wasp.
