Actress Julianne Moore has wowed crowds at the premiere of her latest film Blindness at the Toronto Film Festival.

Moore said: "Cannes is different. It's much more of an industry kind of festival. It's where critics go and people sell their movies. Toronto is more of a place for people who love movies."

In the film Moore plays a doctor's wife who is the only person to keep her sight after a whole city turns blind.

The film, which takes place in an abandoned mental hospital, is based on the novel by Jose Saramago and is directed by Brazilian Fernando Meirelles.

Gael Garcia Bernal, Danny Glover, Mark Ruffalo and Sandra Oh also star in the film which is written by Don McKellar.

The film has had mixed reviews which is on general release from October 3.

Some critics say it is 'bleak' and 'depressing', but the actors themselves are proud to be in the film.
