The BBC's most respected and longest serving foreign correspondent, Charles Wheeler, dies at the age of 85.

From the Hungarian uprising of 1956, to the assassination of Martin Luther King; from Watergate to the Gulf war; he covered many of the events that shook the world, going back more than half a century.

Today the BBC paid tribute to a man described simply as the greatest reporter of his generation.
