Katona checks into Priory clinic
Updated on 19 July 2007
TV star Kerry Katona has checked into celebrity rehab clinic The Priory after being held in a knifepoint raid at her home.
The pop star who was left "absolutely distraught" after the attack, is being treated for a form of manic depression called bipolar disorder, which she has suffered with for years.
The 26-year-old's condition has worsened significantly since the ordeal in which Katona, her five-month-old baby Heidi and her husband Mark Croft were held captive in their home.
Kerry's spokesman, Max Clifford, said: "Kerry has gone into the Priory. Bipolar disorder is something she has suffered from for some time, and the condition has, of course, been very much brought on by what happened.
"She has been treated in the Priory before so they know her problems and her symptoms. It was a question of getting her there as quickly as possible so she can receive the right treatment."
Katona is expected to remain in the London clinic for up to two weeks.
Three masked robbers armed with a crowbar, sledgehammer and large kitchen knife, raided the £1.5 million home in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in the early hours of Monday morning.
The gang made away with more than £100,000 worth of goods, including jewellery, two laptops and the couple's blue BMW.
