Liz Hurley has the body women would love to have, according to a survey.

The 41-year-old model, who showcased her curves in the famous Versace safety-pinned dress, was named the number one British Body Idol in a poll of 5,000 women.

New Woman editor Helen Johnston said: "She is pencil-slim but still curvy, the ideal most women desperately want.

"However, ordinary women can comfort themselves with the fact it is a 24-hour-a-day job, requires iron determination and probably very little food.

"For most of us, a body like Elizabeth Hurley's would require a lifetime of sacrifice."

The female celebrity in second place was Victoria Beckham while Former Hear'Say star Myleene Klass came in third.

Kelly Brook was fourth, followed by Kate Moss and Kate Winslet. Cat Deeley, Jordan, Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley complete the top 10.

The list featured a wide variety of the top 100 woman of all shapes, sizes and ages.

This included Nigella Lawson, Davina McCall, Jemima Khan, Trinny Woodall, Lily Cole, Dame Helen Mirren, Carol Vorderman and Joanna Lumley.

"The variety of women voted onto the Body Idol list is extraordinary in its breadth - from the tiniest size O to far more voluptuous celebrities who women admire and secretly envy for being comfortable in their own skin," Johnston said.

Meanwhile, the poll also found that six out of 10 women think size zero is attractive and 97 per cent considered size 12 to be "fat".

The same figure would rather have friends who are fatter than them, and 76 per cent admit they are jealous of slimmer friends.

The survey also showed the lengths women will go to in order to lose weight.

Almost half have taken slimming pills or diet drugs while one in five have taken laxatives, and 13 per cent confessed to taking speed or cocaine to speed up their metabolism and suppress their appetite.

Johnston said: "For the first time, this survey is evidence of the staggering impact size zero has had on British women, with six out of 10 thinking this minuscule size is desirable. It is also deeply disturbing that 97% think size 12 is fat.

"No wonder so many women say they can't eat normally any more because they're trying to achieve the unachievable."
