Hawley to miss the Brits?

Richard Hawley will be battling it out on Wednesday for the Best Male prize at the Brit Awards - yet he's in two minds whether he'll even attend.

"I'm quite cynical so (the Brits) is a way of the system absorbing you," he said. "That's part of what I think, but part of it is thinking, 'I'm a 41-year-old bloke and somebody's nominated me for an award for music that I've done'. It can't be anything but nice. Thanks."

The star is up against Mika, Jamie T, Newton Faulkner, and Mark Ronson, but he admits he's not too familiar with his competition.

He said: "I respect Mark Ronson alot and actually, to my shame, I think I rather listen to Eddie Cochran and alot of older stuff than alot of modern music.

"I don't really know much about the other artists, but I'm sure they're great."

The Brit Awards take place on Wednesday, February 20 at London's Earls Court.
