Guy Ritchie spills the beans on Sherlock Holmes

Rumours Russell Crowe will be joining the star-studded line-up for Sherlock Holmes have been denied by the film's director.

Guy Ritchie has said he can not shed any light on whether or not Crowe will be starring as the detective's famous assistant, Dr Watson, alongside Robert Downey Jr in the lead role.

"I'm a big fan of Russell Crowe fan. Maybe he will be making an appearance but as of yet I couldn't confirm one or the another," he said.

"The idea is that we will be injecting a lot of fresh enthusiasm into Sherlock Holmes.

"Sherlock Holmes was himself a martial artist so you will be seeing something of an intellectual action hero in Sherlock Holmes."

Filming is due to begin next month.
