Pop supremo Nick Godwyn has spoken about what Amy Winehouse was like to work with at the tender age of 16.

Godwyn has been involved in the music industry for over two decades and has worked with artists including Boy George and Kylie Minogue.

He said the young Winehouse was always very distinctive from those around her.

Godwyn said: "Amy was always very different, especially at 16-years-old.

"She was different from a lot of the girls at her age - more mature.

"She was writing songs, well poetry really, which is incredible - she had a vision and ideas."

Godwyn is glad that he never experienced the unpredictable side of the songstress and has happy memories of tours in the early days.

He said: "She wasn't that unpredictable, she was very earnest about what she was doing and we had great fun on tour - it just wasn't the same, it's a different time."

Regarding the Rehab star's current much-publicised problems, Godwyn is optimistic about her future.

He added: "I think she's got all the time in the world, so for me its not about getting her back on track, its about just hoping that she's happy and healthy."
