First peek inside Big Brother house

The design of the new Big Brother house has been revealed for the first time and it seems the contestants are in for a confusing time.

With a bathtub placed in the middle of the living room and a fridge built into a wall at the far end of the garden the house is the most surreal yet.

Housemates will undoubtedly be upset that the kettle and toaster have been locked away in a see-through cabinet and only Big Brother will decide when to open it.

The weird layout suggests that Big Brother has some shocks in store when series eight of the reality show kicks off on May 30.

A source has only added to the intrigue by saying: "What you see here isn't necessarily what you get. Let's just say there are secret hidey holes and different areas that aren't immediately apparent."

The house at the Elstree studios in Hertfordshire took 8,000 man hours to build with one half of the living area being raspberry pink and the other half baby blue.

House designer Patrick Watson said: "This year we have gone for a cleaner, more adult look, using more textures and colours to brand each area."

Some arty references have been included in the house, such as a Warhol-inspired target painted on the floor and in a Damien Hurst tribute there is a rubber chicken split in half and suspended in clear boxes.
