TV graphics pioneer dies
Updated on 19 February 2009
The graphics guru Ben Blank who revolutionised the look of television news dies at the age of 87.
Born in the 1920s, when Blank joined CBS Television in the 50s he came up with the then revolutionary idea of having an image behind the news anchor.
He also created what is thought to be the first ever graphic in a news bulletin, using a golf ball to represent the Soviet satellite Sputnik in 1957.
