Stephanie West meets Matt Smith, the new Doctor Who, whose little-known short film is in competition at the Cannes film festival this week.
When an up-and-coming director cast unknown actor Matt Smith in his Cannes competition film, little did he know that Smith would become the next Doctor.
A month after they finished shooting, Smith was cast as the new Doctor Who - one of the most sought-after roles in television.
The short film Together is now in competition in Cannes.
