Updated on 22 March 2009

By Stephanie West

Channel 4 News talks to Phil Edgar-Jones, the man who first put Jade Goody on our TV screens.

Jade Goody, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer last August, died at 10pm on Saturday night her publicist Max Clifford confirmed this morning.

The 27-year-old's celebrity status was established by her 2002 appearance in the third series of Channel 4's Big Brother.

Phil Edgar-Jones was the man who selected her to appear on the show. Here he talks to Channel 4 News arts correspondent Stephanie West.
