The family of Mark Speight, the TV presenter who went missing yesterday, say they are deeply worried about him.
Mark Speight was last seen yesterday lunchtime, three months after his financee was found dead at their London home. The police have described him as a vulnerable missing person.
Grief over fiancee's death
He played the funny guy on children's TV, but now Mark Speight is said to be a broken man. He had planned to marry Natasha Collins, but since her death, when he found her dead in the bath after taking cocaine, he has been unable to work or return to their flat.
He chose instead to live with Natasha's mother. She told a newspaper at the weekend how she'd hear him sobbing at night. Today her only words were for him. It was left to a family spokeswoman to explain their concerns.
Last sightings
Mark Speight was dropped off at Wood Green tube station by a friend yesterday morning. Just over three and a half hours later, he was seen walking down a street in Kilburn by a routine police patrol.
However, he was not reported missing until last night after he failed to turn up at two meetings.
Early this morning, police carried out a helicopter search of the area surrounding Mrs Collins' house in North London - a reflection of how seriously they're taking his disappearance.
Inquest
The strain of the past three months was evident last week when he arrived for the inquest into his fiancee's death. It was Speight who found her in the bath of their flat in St Johns Wood in January.
Natasha Collins had suffered 60 per cent burns after taking a mixture of cocaine, alcohol and sleeping tablets. Mark Speight was briefly questioned on suspicion of murder, but the police quickly made it clear he was not a suspect.
Mark Speight's family and friends are praying that is the case and that he will be home soon.
