Interview: director Danny Boyle

Updated on 09 December 2008

By Nicholas Glass

Director Danny Boyle talks to Nicholas Glass about the making of his new film, 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

Screenwriter Simon Beaufoy

'Slumdog Millionaire' screenwriter Simon Beaufoy talks about his experiences in Mumbai which helped him convert the story for the big screen.

"We felt we had a real obligation to make it a true picture of Mumbai," he says.

When asked about the similarities with his previous films including 'The Full Monty', he says: "What I'm most pleased about is that both the Full Monty and this film were made without any corner of the eye looking at awards or money.

"They were just made because we got really fascinated with the subject matter and we really wanted to make the best film we could. So they were both made in an utterly un-cynical way."
