Film on Polanski rape case

By Nicholas Glass

Updated on 21 May 2008

A special report from Cannes on the film director and fugitive from justice, Roman Polanski, who was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl 30 years ago.

In film-making, there are few personalities as controversial as Roman Polanski.

In 1977, he was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl, Samantha Geimer. Polanski admitted unlawful sex with a minor and fled the US.

He's lived in France since then and would be arrested if he returned to America. Now a documentary about the case has received its official screening at the Cannes film festival.

Channel 4 News has talked to the director of the documentary. Our arts correspondent Nicholas Glass reports from Cannes on a 30-year-old scandal that won't go away.
