Dennis Lehane: success is a given

Like most of his stories Dennis Lehane's The Given Day is set in Boston, but this one focuses on social unrest after the first world war.

The writer's latest novel secured a movie deal before it had even hit the presses.

Ever since Clint Eastwood turned Mystic River into a film the gritty novels of the Boston writer have been fought over by Hollywood filmmakers, with Martin Scorsese just finishing a movie of Shutter Island.

So what is it like to be Hollywood's muse?
