Cannes continues, but loses glitz

The financial meltdown restricts spending on Cannes film festival parties, but there seems little chance of picking up a bargain blockbuster. Stephanie West reports.
Yacht rentals are down by 50 per cent and some of the more lavish parties have been cancelled.
But as the Cannes film festival begins, it is very much business as usual for the buying and selling of movies.
For the first time ever, the festival will open with an animated film, Disney Pixar's 3D offering: Up.
In competition for the prestigious Palme d'Or is Looking for Eric, featuring the former Manchester United forward Eric Cantona; Quentin Tarantino's second world war film starring Brad Pitt; and Ang Lee's movie Taking Woodstock.
