The final episode of critically acclaimed TV series The Sopranos is screened in the US.

The TV show has been praised in some quarters as "the richest achievement in the history of television".

For eight and a half years and six seasons, the mob TV show the Sopranos won almost uniform critical praise for its portrayal of brutality, humour, shocking violence, charm and the inside track on modern day mafia families.

Shown in the UK on Channel 4 one season behind the US, the weekly show has turned its cast into international household names.
