Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman plan to bring plays from Australia and the US to the London stage.

He won the Oscar for his turn as Truman Capote. But now Philip Seymour Hoffman has turned from Hollywood to directing theatre in Britain.

And he is being helped by fellow award-winner Cate Blanchett.

The two stars today unveiled a plan to bring more plays from their native theatre companies in New York and Australia to the stage here in the UK.

Hoffman's first venture will be directing Riflemind, a play written by Blanchett's husband.
