The Toronto International Film Festival unveiled a host of world premieres, including the hotly anticipated action-comedy Stone of Destiny, starring Robert Carlyle.

Director Charles Martin Smith's flick follows the fictional story of Ian Hamilton, a Scottish nationalist who reinvigorated national pride in the 1950s with his audacious pillage on England to bring the Stone of Scone back to Scotland.

Also among the newly announced premieres are Rian Johnson's The Brothers Bloom, which stars Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo, Stephen Elliot's Easy Virtue, starring Colin Firth, Jessica Biel and Kristin Scott Thomas, and Richard Linklater's Me and Orson Welles, featuring Zac Efron and Imogen Poots.

Additional high-profile entries are Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire - a break from the usual, moody, philosophically intricate films that Boyle has become renowned for.

The story, written by The Full Monty scriptwriter Simon Beaufoy, is about an illiterate, penniless street-urchin from Mumbai, who inadvertently wins the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

He enters the programme with the sole intention of reaching out to his missing girlfriend, who he knows is a huge fan of the show.

However, upon winning the jackpot, suspicions are raised and he is accused of cheating.
