The former child star turned impressionist Kevin Bishop is due to launch his new TV comedy show later.

Bishop said: "I'm really excited about it, but really terrified at the same time because it's such an enormous thing. It's called The Kevin Bishop Show as well, so it seems like I'm putting all my eggs in one basket. If it goes wrong, that's me finished!"

He added: "People who are close to me don't seem to realise the enormity of it, they just say 'Isn't it great, you've got your own show! They're right, it is great, but if it's rubbish, I'm rubbish."

Bishop shot to fame at the age of 14 in TV drama Grange Hill. His big acting break came when he starred opposite Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Billy Connolly as Jim Hawkins in A Muppet Treasure Island.

He has admitted he is suffering from last minute nerves: "Now I've seen it finished, I'm much better than I was, but in the early creation part of the show, I was terrified.

"I felt like all the weight was on my shoulders, so it had to be how I wanted it to be.

"I was a nightmare when we were writing, but when we got to filming, I knew there was nothing I could do about it - it was going to be filmed and that was that, I had to let it go."
