Welsh singer Duffy is shrugging off an accusation from Estelle that she "ain't got soul."
When complaining about a lack of black women in the charts, Estelle took a swipe at Duffy and fellow pop artist Adele by saying they are not proper soul singers.
Later Estelle claimed the comments were taken out of context, and were not what she meant to say.
"The actual quote was I just don't feel the same way about Duffy and Adele as I do about Mary J Blige and Aretha Franklin," she said back in March.
"That's my opinion and I'm sticking by it so good luck to her," she added.
Duffy said when she initially heard the comment she did not know what to say, but after some thought it started to make sense.
"I don't want to define soul music. I don't want to recreate it, but use some of the elements in what I do just so that it doesn't get forgotten about.
"Apart from a few radio stations that still do play those classics, a lot of those really great songs have been forgotten about and I want to keep them alive a little bit."
