Dreamgirl joins Sex and the City movie

A new Dreamgirl is being added to the cast of The Sex and the City movie line-up.

Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson has joined the cast of the film version of the popular US series, which starts shooting in New York next week.

She will play Carrie Bradshaw's assistant, Louise. Actor Chris Noth, who plays Carrie's on/off squeeze Mr Big, is also a new addition to the cast.

The show's original stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon have also signed up to reprise their roles as best friends for the new flick.

Plans for the movie previously ran into trouble with rumours Kim Cattrall, who plays man-eater Samantha Jones, was refusing to sign up.

Sex And The City ran for six seasons before it ended in 2004.
